Según el diámetro de la tubería (1 pulgada, a 4 1/2 pulgadas.) y el tamaño del carrete, la tubería continua puede extenderse de 2000 pies a 15,000 pies (de 610 a 4570 mt), o a una mayor longitud.  Como un método de intervención de pozos, las técnicas de tubería continuas ofrecen varias ventajas claves sobre tecnologías alternativas de intervención de pozos.
